My sessions with Susan and the literature she provided me, allowed me to adopt a diet that helped me reach and maintain remission following my Ulcerative Colitis diagnosis. Susan was comforting, yet pushed me to make the necessary changes in my diet and lifestyle. Her expertise and willingness to cater her research to my specific needs impressed me and most importantly, I gained confidence in my abilities to cook by working side by side with Susan in her kitchen!

Susan listened to my story and immediately understood me. She never once judged me. She helped me slowly change my diet from one of fast foods to one of whole, fresh foods. She taught me to journal and to meditate and I began to see that I lived in my head and ignored my body for four decades. No wonder my body was a wreck! I lost more than 40 pounds over 6 months, and regained my self-confidence and energy for life. I took a new job and find that my colleagues look up to me. This comes as a very welcomed surprise. Life is good, thanks to Susan’s kindness, willingness to gently push me and her constant professionalism.

When I came to see Susan, my ulcerative colitis was fully active, I was exhausted, scared, overweight and on high doses of steroids. My doctors had no advice about nutrition other than to avoid spicy foods. Susan’s calm presence reassured me immediately.
After meticulously analyzing my diet, she created a special low sulfur diet for me, recommended that I research and consider taking a few different supplements, taught me meditation to calm my mind, and yoga to support my digestion. The most difficult thing I had to do was to journal regularly. I did not realize how much I was avoiding painful issues.
After four months of regular appointments, I had lost 60 pounds and was off of steroids and protein pump inhibitors. I had more energy and for the first time ever, felt that I could manage this previously debilitating illness. Although I have had ups and downs since then, I have lost more than 90 pounds and perhaps most importantly, I understand what I need to do in order to avoid having this disease manage me. I meditate regularly, practice yoga, keep a sane work schedule and … I listen to my body. Thank you, Susan!

I was desperate when I came to see Susan. My life felt like it was spinning out of control. I had gained 50 pounds over the last four years, I was not sleeping well, and irritable much of the time, and my marriage was on the skids.
Within the first month, Susan had identified food sensitivities as a significant health issue for me. She developed a plan that allowed me to slowly eliminate all gluten from my diet and replace it with non-gluten foods. Although I was very skeptical that I could actually cut out gluten, Susan made it easy by identifying substitute foods. In two months, I was mostly gluten free, sleeping better and had lost 15 pounds without exercising or significantly reducing calories or flavor. I saw her very two weeks for six months and her constant support and guidance kept me on track. I began to feel better, my sleep improved and so did my mood. By the end of six months, I was able to address key issues in my life that had gone unresolved over the years.
As a result of our work together, my husband and I got into counseling and saved our marriage. I am a different person now, a year later and I owe this to Susan’s thoughtful, non-judgmental approach to helping me sort out my life.

I am twenty-five pounds lighter, more energetic and happier than I have been for years! Susan’s nutritional expertise led to the discovery that I had food sensitivities. Once I eliminated specific foods, specifically dairy, I began to lose weight without effort. My cholesterol and triglyceride levels dropped so much that my doctor took me off of statins. I felt good about my body for the first time in a long time. It must have been apparent, as I met the woman of my dreams shortly after losing the weight. I owe this to Susan’s unwavering support, compassion and her broad base of health and nutritional knowledge.
