For 32 years, working to protect the public’s health was my passion. Jobs with UNICEF, The World Bank, and U.S.A.I.D. took me to Asia, Africa and South America where I designed, and managed initiatives to improve access to safe drinking water, a stable and nutritious food supply, and access to affordable health services. Along with marriage, children and dogs came the desire to be stateside. Serving as Congressman Moran’s health legislative assistant, I quickly learned about health policy in the U.S. Several years later, I left to create a non-profit clinic for Hispanic immigrants new to Alexandria, who had minimal options for health care. Partnering with both public and private entities, the neighborhood clinic grew and ultimately, was qualified by the federal government as a Community Health Center offering comprehensive health and mental health services to more than 15,000 patients each year. Moving back into health policy, I took a position as a senior researcher and lecturer at the George Washington School of Public Health and enrolled in doctoral studies in public health policy. Almost four years later, I created and directed the Center for Public Health Policy at the American Public Health Association, where I also served as Acting Associate Executive Director.

Life threw me a curve ball. I became quite ill with Lyme disease. Unsatisfied with years of conventional and alternative medical treatment, I took matters into my own hands. I left the Association to learn as much as I could about nutrition, yoga, meditation, energy medicine, and spirituality and set out on a journey to heal from the inside out.

Sorting out my digestion difficulties became a top priority after years of antibiotics. So I embarked on specialized training in digestive health. This has proved invaluable in helping clients who are suffering from a wide range of digestive conditions, from food sensitivities to disabling intestinal disorders.

Drawing on many years of training at The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services, the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the Kripalu School of Yoga and Health, I have developed effective tools for healing, achieving vast improvements in my own physical, mental and spiritual health as well as in helping others make vast improvements in their health. These tools are grounded in both the science and the practice of resilient health, nutrition, yoga and meditation. As my own journey of cultivating radiant and resilient health continues, so, too, does my desire to facilitate healing and wholeness in others.
